Sala’s pilot was not authorised to fly paying passenger

Some facts have now revealed that the part time pilot who flew Emiliano Sala from France to Great Wales before crashing into the Channel had made basic errors before take-off.
It was realized that David Ibbotson was also not allowed to take paying passengers because he only had a private licence – not a commercial one and didn’t have the qualifications to fly in a bad weather but flew their plane into a winter storm.
It reported that the pilot used Visual Flight Rules (VFR) instead of Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), which was not meant to be used while flying in storms.
